  • Concerts, plays, PPA performances, and graduation are expected to be held at off-campus venues during the 2028–29 school year. Locations and event details will be shared as they are finalized.

  • Yes. The Summer Festival of Learning will continue as a four-week program for students in grades 1–6 and will be held at the Middle and Lower Campus.

  • Pinewood is developing transportation plans for activities that will take place off campus. Details will be shared with participating families well before each season or event.

Student Experience and Programs

  • The general contractor will follow all applicable Bay Area air-quality and construction-mitigation requirements. Measures will include regularly wetting dust-prone areas and using additional controls as required to limit dust and protect air quality.

  • Item descriptionThe general contractor will coordinate closely with Pinewood and provide advance notice of high-noise work. Whenever feasible, the most disruptive activities will be scheduled outside instructional hours or at times that minimize disruption to classes.

  • The construction logistics plan will establish designated access routes for workers, vehicles, and deliveries that are separate from student circulation areas. Construction zones and routes will be clearly marked and secured before work begins.

    To further minimize impacts on campus and the surrounding neighborhood, the contractor has committed to arranging off-site parking for construction workers and providing daily shuttle transportation to and from the site. This approach is intended to reduce construction-related parking demand near campus and limit disruption to school operations and neighboring streets.

  • Pinewood will review and update emergency access and evacuation procedures for each phase of construction. Any changes will be coordinated with the appropriate public-safety agencies, incorporated into staff training, and communicated to families and students before they take effect.

  • Construction areas will be secured and separated from spaces used by students. Construction personnel will not have access to student areas; any necessary access will be coordinated with Pinewood and managed according to campus safety protocols.

Environmental and Safety

  • Yes. Students will remain on the Upper Campus throughout the rebuild.

  • Pinewood is evaluating off-campus venues for practices and games during the phases when on-campus athletic facilities are unavailable. Locations, schedules, and transportation details will be shared once plans are finalized.

  • Performances will move to off-campus venues during the period when the theater is unavailable. Pinewood is evaluating suitable locations and will share details as they are confirmed.

  • Yes. Electric-vehicle charging stations are expected to remain available during construction after the new main driveway and parking lot are completed by the end of summer 2027.

  • During the 2027–28 school year, Rooms 1–9 will be replaced with temporary classrooms. The remainder of the campus, including the athletic field, theater, and gym is expected to remain in use. During the 2028–29 school year, most programs will operate from temporary facilities in Pinewood Village, while the existing gym remains available. The gym is scheduled to be renovated during summer 2029.

  • Pinewood does not currently anticipate changes to the school day, academic calendar, or regular class schedule. If an adjustment becomes necessary, families will receive advance notice.

  • Yes. Pinewood Village is being planned to include temporary science, art, and other specialized learning spaces so that students can continue to access the facilities their programs require.

  • Yes. Lunch service, counseling, and other student services will continue throughout construction, although their on-campus locations may change during different phases.

  • Yes. Pinewood plans to continue clubs, assemblies, dances, and other student activities throughout construction. Some activities may use different on-campus or off-campus locations depending on the phase of work.

  • Yes. Families will continue to be welcomed for meetings and events. Available locations and campus access routes may vary by construction phase, and event-specific information will be shared in advance.

Campus Locations and Operations

  • Yes. The current plan schedules demolition for summer 2027 for rooms 1-9 and then the rest of campus for summer 2028, when students are not on campus, with completion before students return for the 2028–29 school year.

  • Please see the project timeline on this page for the latest phase-by-phase construction schedule.

  • The schedule depends in part on timely review and approval by California's Division of the State Architect (DSA), including required permits and occupancy approvals. As with any major construction project, unforeseen site conditions, supply-chain constraints, weather, or regulatory changes could also affect timing. Pinewood will communicate promptly if the schedule changes.

  • The construction contract includes schedule requirements and remedies intended to keep the project on track. If a phase is delayed, Pinewood can continue using the temporary classrooms and facilities until the affected permanent spaces are ready.

  • Students are expected to begin using the completed campus in fall 2029.

Timeline

  • Families will continue to enter through the current parking-lot entrance. There will be no changes to pick up and drop off during construction.

  • Parking will not be impacted during construction. We anticipate adding a few more parking spots upon the completion of the new parking lot.

  • Pinewood's contract with the General contractor prohibits construction deliveries during school drop off and pick up times in order to not disrupt school traffic. Pinewood is comittted to strictly enforcing this.
